Paige Collage Canvas

Hi bloomies (it's okay if I call you that, isn't it?)! It's Lisa back with you and another project to share. I decided to make a collage canvas using the Paige Bloom Girl and show you my steps. Here is what I made:

She is soooo pretty, don't you agree? I don't think there's anything you could do to her to make her look ugly. Hahha!

Let's take a look at what I did to create her:

1. Start by gathering up the papers wanted to create the background. * I usually do a "dry fit" and take a pic with my iPhone.

2, Rub Gelatos® in various shades over canvas. This is just so that there is color peeking through any empty spots instead of white. Not a necessary step, but something I really like to do.

3. Using the "dry fit" photo adhere the papers to the canvas using Gel Medium. *Be sure to use a very dry brush (even though it will become wet in the Gel Medium) to prevent the Gelatos® from smearing, if used. Be certain to apply the Gel Medium both under the paper and on top. Either heat set or air dry. Once dry, trim off excess paper.

4. At "seams" of paper, apply either Gelatos®, PITT Artist Stampers Big Brush Pens, or other color medium.

5.  Place the Bubble Stencil over the background that is being created and using the Color Bloom Spray in Soft Teal and Tangerine and spray over the background. Tilt to drip (if desired). Dab off excess. Then take cap off Color Bloom Spray in Gold Foil and tap onto background. Spritz lightly with water to drip.

6. Add contrast to larger circles with PITT Artist Stampers Big Brush Pens. Blend with fingers.

7. Stamp Paige Bloom Girl onto white tissue paper using Coffee Archival Ink. * I like to use a piece of paper under the tissue paper and a foam mat under that to ensure even pressure of the stamp and a crisp image.

8.  Adhere the tissue paper Paige Bloom Girl onto the background again using Gel Medium. Heat set or allow to dry.

9. Begin to embellish as desired! I can't tell other people how to embellish a project. This is personal preference. (I used all PITT Artist Stamper's Big Brush Pens to color since they are highly blendable with your fingers.) Other items used: Prima Trim, Prima Flowers, rub-ons, and Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Texture Luxe & Texture Gems.

(You should be able to see the coloring in photo 9 start to take place.)

Bloom Girl Gardenia with Easy Background Tutorial

Hi my sweet Bloom friends. It's Lisa here with you today and I have a little tutorial today on how to create a fun background for any card, but ESPECIALLY your Bloom Girls (and upcoming Guys, too.) Here's the card I created using the technique:

1. Start off with watercolor paper. Jamie has awesome watercolor paper!! Did you know? She does! It's a beautiful, thick paper that is A4 sized. Just trim a sheet to 4 ¼ x 5 ½" and place Frog tape or other low-tack painter's tape around the edges.

2.  Using an acrylic block (mine was 1 x 7" long) rub a Gelato® completely all over one side. Spritz with water and then press (rather hard) onto the paper. Before removing the block, lift the block in different areas. This will give you a more watercolored look - more random.

3. Repeat the process for each color you wish to use. It's completely fine to overlap the colors and to let them drip into each other. (For this card 4 Gelatos® worked perfectly.)

4.  Prior to doing any stamping with your Bloom Girl it is important to allow the background to either air dry or heat set. **Do not get too close with your heat tool if you use a high temp embossing gun.**

5. I do stenciling and spraying PRIOR to stamping, which may seem weird. But I do this so I don't get too hung up on placement, It just feels more organic to me that way. I hope that makes sense. The times that I don't do it this way is when I'm using a texture paste or things that require layers.

6. Stamp Bloom Girl Gardenia using an Archival Ink. (I used Coffee by Ranger.)

7. Once the Bloom Girl is stamped the rest is really up to you and how you want to embellish and finish it up -- what you want to add to make it YOUR OWN. :) You can see my close ups to see what I added (and the product list, too.)

Summer Snow Queen Mixed Media Canvas

Hi Bloom Friends! It's Lisa with you this fine Monday and I am so thrilled to bring you my project today. I've had a color scheme in my head for quite a while and I've really been wanting to use it on the Summer Bloom Girl Stamp, which is a little ironic....seeing as it's Winter. :)

I knew Summer NEEDED to be a Snow Queen. She NEEDED to be dressed in elegant whites and golds. Her eye is a dazzling glass glitter. Her hair is touched with gorgeous Gold Leaf Mica Flakes. This canvas is texture, glittering golds, shimmering metallics and I wish I could hug it. (Yes, I'm crazy like that.)

There are a few steps involved but here we go!
1. Using a sticky back canvas, prime the canvas using Clear Gesso, so the colors of the watercolors don't alter. Allow to dry.

2. Adhere random pieces of white pieces of tissue paper on top of the sticky back canvas (just enough to cover an are where the stamp will go). Coat will Gel Medium. Go for texture! Allow to dry.

3. Stamp Summer using Distress Paints. These are a water based acrylic paint that are VERY water soluble. Spritz the bottom areas of her hair with water, if desired. Mix different areas prior to stamping for different tones to the paint. (I used Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Tarnished Brass, & Frayed Burlap.) Heat Set.

4. Once dry use watercolor pencils to create shading. I used TWO watercolor pencils for the shading and one for her pupil. That's it! Oh and this is when I did her iris with the glass glitter, too.

5.  After all the shading is done to your satisfaction is when you get to go crazy adding your flowers. This is entirely up to you. The size, the colors, the amount, etc. Since I was going for a white/gold theme that's what I did here.

6. Then start building your background. I used old packaging. I tore some cardboard off of a box then ripped the top layer of paper from it here and there and coated it with white gesso. I also added in some Mica Flakes in Frosted and a tiny sprinkling more of Glass Glitter in Gold Rush.

7. Using the Color Bloom Spray in Gold Foil and the 12 x 12" Bubbles Stencil I gave a 9 x 12" canvas a light coating with the spray. Just enough to have some of the pretty gold shine through. I highlighted some of the circles (or "bubbles") with a gold watercolor pencil and also with a Gold Pan Pastel for extra shine.

8. Prior to adhering everything together I wrapped some Prima Trim around the corrugated cardboard piece and then adhered that to the canvas. Then I attached a small strip of glitter trim to the bottom of the corrugated cardboard and across the trim. Finally, removing the backing and adhering the Snow Queen!

It was a little hard for me to take the photos without them looking grey, White is just so hard to photograph!!  But, I just love how this turned out and I hope you'll make your own "Snow Queen" Bloom Girl.

Winter Jing Tag - with DT Lisa

Hi Bloom Girls (and Guys lol) ! It's Lisa here with you today and I have a tag to share using the beautiful Jing Bloom Girl stamp. I really wanted to use her in a different way and to show that you don't have to be an expert at coloring to use these gorgeous stamps.

Can I just say how much I love these cool and lovely, yet earthy colors? 

Here are my steps:

1.The tag was created by first coloring on the tag using Gelatos® and blending with my finger. 

2. I tore off a piece of the polka dotted tissue paper and stamped what I had with the Jing Bloom Girl in white pigment ink and then heat setting with white embossing powder.

3. I then used Gel Medium to adhere the tissue paper to the tag. And heat set.

4. In random areas I used various shades of blue Stamper's Big Brush pens to color the flowers (I also used Gelatos® to color her face.)

5. I applied Whipped Spackle randomly through a stencil to various parts of the tag, Prior to the
Color Bloom Sprays were applied randomly.

6. The edges of the tag were inked using Archival Ink in Jet Black.

7. The snowflakes were something I just had in my stash and thought they'd look cute!

8. The finishing touches were to add the flowers. I love picking and choosing just the right ones, don't you?

I hope you liked this different take on a Winter tag and see how very easy it is to use the supplies you have on hand to make something very different and VERY beautiful.

Christmas Inspiration with Sophie Bloom Girl and Lisa

Hi everyone! It's Lisa back on the blog with you today. I'm sharing a card with you today that (of course is HERE), but will also be seen over on Prima's blog as with rest of the Bloom Girls DT. We're participating in their 12 Days of Christmas Cards this week so this card and so many of the rest of the team have cards to share.

I used Jamie's gorgeous Sophie Bloom Girl stamp as my focal point here. But, when I was going through my stash I realized I didn't have much in the way of Christmas paper!! Such a travesty, I know. However, I do have papers from Prima that could serve double duty and once I pulled those out I knew exactly what to do. Yay!!

The paper collection that I used is Free Spirit. And I colored Sophie with Copic markers (I use the term loosely since I'm still really bad at it...Lol!!). Then I knew I just wanted everything else to be in shades of gold, cream, white, that kind of thing. And it really makes the reds and greens "pop" more. It's always fun going through all my flowers and embellishments finding just the right things. :)

In this photo you can really see all of that dimension! It's a heavy card. And lots of pretty shimmeriness on it. (I think I just made up a word.)

And a little close-up of her pretty face. (I even gave her a teeny tiny earring!)

I hope you enjoyed my card today, but more so I hope that you got inspired by what you can do from NON-traditional Christmas elements. There isn't a Christmas sentiment on this card and yet, I think, it still looks very Christmas-y. Don't you?

Watercolor Bloom Girl Window with Lisa

Hey everyone! Happy Tuesday. It's Lisa with you again. (Didn't I just see you all?) And I have a very, very cool card to share with you today. I am in LOVE with how this turned out. I started to make something else twice, and then I saw THESE resin pieces and a little light clicked in my head and I knew exactly what to make.

Here she is:

My heart goes pitter-patter when I look at her. I wish you all could see her in real life.

Here's what I did to create this beauty. I stamped the Karlie Bloom Girl in Archival Black Ink on watercolor paper. Then I took the resin frame and figured out what part of her I wanted to be "in color" and traced inside of it.. Everything within the frame would be color, and everything outside the frame would be black and white.

Now, I could have taken a very easy road and just colored the inside of the frame and left the outside as is, but it would have looked very flat. So, the entire thing IS watercolored. ALL OF IT. Yes, there are many shades of greys, blacks, whites, silvers, etc. It was challenging, but fun. Especially her face! I added bits of Wink of Stella in clear to really make it shimmer and shine. Oh! I also added some enamel accents in black and white in a few areas, as well. It's very dimensional.

This card was so easy to make. Here is my very short supply list if you want to make one for yourself:

Just Breathe Tag with DT Lisa

Hi Bloomies! ;) It's Lisa with you today and I decided to spread my wings a little and do something I hardly ever, ever, EVERRRRR do: play with Copics. In fact, not too long ago I sold almost all of mine. I have about 25 or so left. So, this will be far from perfect, but I did have fun and I got a LOT of help from my Design Team mate Mindy (thanks sweets!).

I really wanted to NOT make a canvas or a card, so that's why I chose to make a tag. And tags are so fun to make. They can be so many sizes! This one is large at 4 1/8 x 8 1/2 and very 3-dimensional. It can be given as a gift on it's own or hung ON a gift. I just love tags. When was the last time YOU made a tag?

I don't pretend to be an expert at Copics. I'm not. But, I sure had fun playing with them and I may break them out again. Who knows? And those of you who know how to use them and use them well? Happy Creating!!!

October Challenge with DT Lisa

Hi everyone! It's Lisa here with you today and I'm bringing you my take on the October Challenge. Have you played along yet? You have all month long to participate! Just grab your fave Bloom Girl and get going. Here's the inspiration photo (as a quick reference) :

And here's my take on the challenge photo. I used the same Bloom Girl stamp (Jing) and the colors:

What I did was to stamp her on black paper and heat emboss in white. Then I colored her in using pastel pencils. I added some highlights on the flowers using Viva Decor Precious Metal Color in Lilac and Copper. Her hair was darkened using Wink of Stella in black. And her lips and her one (showing eye) were glossified (hahha!) using Glaze. Oh! I also changed the color of the one purple flower. It WAS white. ;) Sneaky, huh? I just used a PITT Artist Stamper's Big Brush Pen to do that. The metal embellishment was painted with lime green acrylic paint then dabbed with black acrylic paint on top. Fun card that's easy to recreate.

Easy right? I always love seeing what everyone else creates during these challenges. I hope that you enjoy what WE create too and can see how easy it can be.

Live Inspire Create Canvas - With DT Lisa

Hey everyone! It's Lisa here with you on this woooooonderful Monday. So, maybe it's not wonderful...YET! But, it will be. ;) My point is that I'm here with you to show you a fun way to take a funky little burlap canvas and make it into something really special for your home OR as a gift!

This canvas is 4 " W x 12" L. Kind of odd, but I LIKE it. ;) When I saw this in the store I knew I had to have it. I thought it would be perfect for mixed media! This was my first try using this new size and I love it!

I used the Bloom Girls Gardenia Stencil to create two flowers using acrylic paint and PanPastels. I then fussy cut them out and added Glaze on top to seal them and give them a little shine. Other pieces used are half of a previously used paper doily that I roughed up, some printed tissue paper, gold metal effects around the edges, LOTS of Prima pretty flowers, and Jamie's exclusive chipboard phrases, flair, and acrylic stamp. The metal effects looks like mustard in my photos (sorry), but it's really gorgeous in real life. Super shimmery and shiny! Chunky, too.

Those stenciled flowers just turned out sooo cool! I really should have just filled up the canvas with a ton of those, shouldn't I? Next time, I promise.

Joy In Fall - Card by DT Lisa

Hi everyone! Happy Monday. :) It's Lisa here with on the blog and I have a card to share with you. So here's the card and then let me tell you a little bit about it:

I decided to use the September Challenge inspiration colors for my card. They're wonderful warm colors and really very versatile. I used Jamie's Joy Bloom Girl stamp for my main focal image and I stamped her using an embossing ink, then heat set it using a metallic copper embossing powder.

All of my coloring is done using PanPastels. Yep, ALL of it. I'm taking Jamie's PanPastel Online Workshop and it's amazing! I'm learning so much already, but I feel like I want to learn everything. Ha!!  Here's a close-up of her:

The stamp is just gorgeous and those PanPastels really make her come to life. I'm probably biased here. ;) All of the beautiful flowers and leaves are from Prima's Free Spirit - Flower Power and I added a few random sequins for interest along with a metal embellishment (Finnabair Mechanicals - Vintage Trinkets - Leaves 1) .
