Christmas with Bloom Girl Gardenia

Today I am sharing a Christmas card I made with the Bloom Girl Gardenia stamp.
This is my first attempt at using some of the Mixed Media things I see everyone doing.
I know this is nowhere near what some of the Mixed Media Guru's do, but, hey, it's my first attempt.

The Bloom Girl stamps are just amazing if you like to use lots of layers and lots of different mediums.

I used my new FAVORITE papers from Prima's Cigar Box Secrets for my backgrounds.
I colored with Derwent's Inktense Watercolor pencils and used a collage decoupage to seal and glue everything together.

I added snowflakes, Prima Finnabair metal trinkets, Prima Flowers and little candies to complete the Christmas look.

I love the way this turned out and I hope you like it too.  I was nervous to try my hand at the mixed media techniques, but now, I think I might be hooked.

Thanks for stopping by today.  This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana with today's Bloom Girl Design Team post.

Christmas With Bloom Girl Hope

Today, I am showing off this gorgeous card I made with the Bloom Girl Hope stamp

Since it's Christmas Time, soon, I decided to put a Christmas spin on the card.

I made a little Santa Claus hat for her and made her dress look festive too.

Can you see the Christmas candies tucked here and there?

Using the Prima Mini Type letters and the Prima Cigar Box Secrets papers, I was able to finish this off.

I adore the way this all came out and will make another fun Christmas project to share for my next post.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Inspirational Card for a Friend

He everyone.  It's me Jeannie with a fun type of card.  I'm sure you've seen many versions of this side step card.  I used the dimensions from PaperCompulsions to create my base, shown below.

After I created the base, I stamped my image, Prima Girl Gardenia, colored it in with my InkTense Colored pencils and found this phrase on Pinterest:

I want to give this card to a friend who is starting on a path that will sure to give her some not so great days...
So I altered the phrase for her, now it says:

She’s a strong person, but every now and then

she’ll need a person to take her hand and say,

 “Everything’s going to be alright"

Here is how the card turned out after I created the different levels on the right hand side of the card.

I love how this all came together.

I'm hoping to give this to my friend today...Let's hope she likes it.
I hope you have enjoyed my card today.

Hair Fancies With Bloom Girl Stamps

Hello Everyone..It is me again, Jeannie with a fun tutorial for some hair sticks.
I started out with these adorable knitting sticks, that were useless, that came in a "Teach me to Knit" kit for kids.

I coated them with a quick layer or black paint.

If you know me at all, you know I have to have some Polka Dots somewhere.

Next, the charms for the sticks.  I used Matte Shrink Film.

You can see how the film is translucent.  I am using the Staz-On ink so I can use alcohol based markers. Also you have to use an in of this sort on Shrink Film.

I am using the Bloom Girl Joy stamp.

I stamped it 3 times so I could use one image and then the flowers from the other 2.

I am using the Bic Mark It pens.

I learned the hard way, (I had forgotten) on the Matte Film, you need to color on the right side of the image.
You can see, I colored on the wrong side, expecting the image to maintain it's translucency.  But I baked them, the plastic became opaque and you couldn't see any of my coloring through the front side,
Oh well!!!

To bake the Film, I use, 2 pieces of chipboard and 1 piece of vellum on a cookie sheet.

The colored side faces up on the layer of chipboard, then you cover that with vellum, then the remaining chipboard goes on top.
The weight of the top piece of chipboard keeps the images from curling and sticking to each other.

After my images shrunk and I recolored them, I got ready to add the charms to the needles.
Using eye-pins, this is how I created the base to hang the charms from.

Using beads and jump-rings and other jewelry findings, this is how they turned out.

Here is how they look while in use.

I think they are super cute and just a touch of crazy fun!!

So there you have it.  I will definitely try the shrink film again, but this time I'll remember to use the clear or color the images digitally and print them out if I am using the Matte Film.

I hope you enjoyed my post today.  This has been Jeannie from The Polka Cabana with today's post.

Bloom Girl Fall Banner

Hi everyone.  It is me Jeannie with a fun banner for Fall, which can not get here soon enough, if you ask me!
Today I am using the Karlie stamp.  What I did this time was to use one image that I colored...
...and then I scanned it and printed it multiple times on kraft paper.  So I had a sheet or paper that looked something like this.

After that I started creating the banner.

I wanted Karlie to be visible here and there so I cut the banner pieces to accommodate this.

I used some gorgeous Prima Marketing flowers to embellish the banner..

I also added some Prima Marketing Vintage Trinkets here and there.

Bloom Brads and Sugar Dots were also perfect for finishing this banner off just right.

Here is it on my front door, ready to welcome Fall.

Now if these 100+ temperatures would just go away!

I hope you have enjoyed my post today.  This banner was super easy to make and I love how whimsical and colorful it looks on my front door.

A Card for the New School Year's Teacher

It's that time of year again.  Back to school, new beginnings and NEW TEACHERS!!
I made this card for my 2nd grader to give to her new teacher.
I used Bloom Girl Sophie on this card, because she looks a little like my daughter's new teacher.

I used so many different things to color this in, but the main coloring was done with Inktense colored pencils.

This is a Tri-Fold card, so when you open the first flap, you will see the Teachers name...

Then the inside has a piece of lined paper that I'm going to let my daughter write a note or draw a picture, what ever it is she wants to do. :)

Here is one last look, I secured it closed with a Bloom Girl Typewriter Key Paper Clip.  The card has also been embellished with Bloom flowers and the Optimist 6 x 6 paper pad.

I hope you have enjoyed my post today.
